I told you it was time......

Yes we got some decorating done in between episodes of "as the snot drips or will the head just exlplode"and we have yet to shake whatever this is. But at least we are not alone, for all we meet have the same issues, it is just the weather I think, oh, I have to go, I think I just hocked up a lung...:(

At the time of this post it is snowing and that will just serve to accent the decorations. I don't think we are to get much though, maybe next time......:)

Christmas Times A Commin......

This is my new Christmas Pig and I just can't seem to get myself (me) to put him outside cause he's so darn cute and I have never seen one like him before.......so for the time being, he is resting under the Christmas tree.......

I found this article and thought I would share.....

Having A Bad Boss Is Bad for The Heart.......

(WebMD) People who consider their bosses to be unfair, arbitrary, inconsiderate, and generally deficient in managerial skills are at greater risk for having a heart disease event such as a heart attack , a new Swedish study shows. And stress that workers think is caused by bad managers adds up, increasing risk of heart problems over time, the researchers report in the Nov. 24 issue of Occupational and Environmental Medicine. Swedish scientists tracked the heart health of more than 3,000 male workers between 1992 and 1995. Their occupational health records then were matched with national registry data on hospital admissions and death from ischemic heart disease up to 2003. During the monitoring period of almost a decade, 74 cases of fatal and non-fatal heart disease events such as heart attack, unstable angina , or cardiac arrest occurred. The more competent that workers ranked their managers, the lower their risk of serious heart problems. The association between perceived leadership of managers and the risk of serious heart problems among workers increased the longer an employee worked for the same company, the study showed, suggesting that stress caused by bad bosses may increase over time. The researchers suggest that companies take steps to improve managers' deficient skills, as rated by their subordinates, to ward off serious heart disease of workers. "One could speculate that a present and active manager, providing structure, information, and support, counteracts destructive processes in work groups, thereby promoting regenerative rather than stress-related physiological processes in employees," writes Anna Nyberg of the Karolinska Institute and the Stress Research Institute at Stockholm University. Rating the Bosses Participants used a rating system for their senior managers, grading them on such things as how good they were at communicating and offering feedback, their success at managing change, their ability to set goals, and how much they delegated. Higher leadership scores were found to be associated with lower risk for heart disease, and the association was "robust to adjustments for education, social class, income, supervisory status, perceived physical load at work, smoking, physical exercise, [body mass index ], lipids, fibrinogen, and diabetes." In short, the study shows that bad bosses can be hazardous to the health, and even to long life, of the people who work for them. In another recent study, the researchers say, employees who were exposed to what they perceive as an adverse psychological work environment were found to be at a 50% excess risk of cardiovascular disease. The results from that study, the researchers write, "have considerable clinical implications, especially since psychosocial stressors at work are relatively common." The researchers say evidence is mounting that the perceived quality of managerial behavior affects worker health. Workers are concerned about "considerate behavior" of bosses, how well managers are able to stimulate employees intellectually, and their ability to communicate with those who work under their supervision. Questions used to rate bosses included such statements as "I am criticized by my boss if I have done something that is not good" and others about how well managers communicate their expectations. What was clear was that workers who felt their bosses had trouble communicating information -- not just negative thoughts -- were at increased risk of developing heart problems. Training of managers about how to do their jobs better might be a good start, the researchers suggest.

A very interesting article to say the least, and what it means as far as we all here at the farm are concerned is it sounds like we are all going to stay healthy and happy, and possibly live forever.....do you suppose there are Walmarts in Sweden......

Christmas is coming, Santa is watching, (I just hope he doesn't watch me when I am sleeping cause I know I drool), so you better be good........and the forecast is for snow on Sunday....HoHoHo!

Things are starting to come together, as you can see, and if I am not mistaken the bin dudes are supposed to be here tomorrow and it looks like they should have a great week weather wise to get bin putter upper stuff done. No rain forecast through next weekend (that's actually not good news). The grain dump trough sitting in front of the dryer that Randy and Jerry (the sleepy one) have been welding on for a few weeks, at the time of this post is a very red primer color as Randy was applying it when I left him earlier so as it is normally in the field, the green tractors will have something red to drive all over, but that is nothing unusual.........
To quote Arnold......."I'll be back................:)

Hay Day at Snyder Family Farms........

It was not only a day to get the hay in but another chance to pass on some experience to the next generation of Snyders (Baby J) and share some quality time in the process. Jonathan looks like he is having a great time, despite the work, but he always has fun whatever he does on the farm as long as he is doing it with Dad. The only thing left to do is help Grandpa find the next windrow......(a deere drives funny when you hook it to a red piece of).........equipment.........:)

Blackeyed Susan Lover........

I guess I am not the only one that loves these flowers. It almost looks like a fly on steroids or maybe a mutant ninja fly, either way, it is obviously still hungry........
Actually it is a Snowberry Clearwing Hummingbird Moth......cool...:)

Growin...........Chloe.........

FAST is not the word for how she has grown, course everything here on the farm grows exceptionally well...:)
As you can see, there are no sticks in the yard, she eats them, (actually just chews them to dust) so the yard is clean for throwing toys......
She is almost done growing and I am sure Heidi will appreciate that, although she is not afraid to take her on.........:)

Stilllllllllllllllgoin...........

Randy being the one working, he does kinda remind you of the energizer bunny don't he, (cause of the ears) and it appears he woke Jerry up just in time for him to have a gulp from his jug of "Shade-tea" (shouldn't that be spelled shady) any way, I believe they are about ready for the Bin puter upper dudes to come and puter up the bin (hope so, corns about ready)..........

Later.................:)

New Sunflower

FINALLY...the first blooms of the season for the perennial Sunflowers we planted....
They appear to be sweet tasting, at least to the hummers......

Goooooooooofin............:)

Yep, "Baby J" was hammin it up with some friends at church when Mom caught him with the camera, lucky us, so I put it here for the world to see..(he does make a cute little pig huh).
My next trick is to get Eric, and or Lori, and perhaps Marie to pose with the little critter (the pig board, not Jonathan).
Enjoy the day, winter is on the way........:)

Newbeeeee..........

So ya'll know, the guy on the right, my right, Terry's left, Terry being the one on the left, is our new employee Mike Shelters so if you see him around make sure you welcome him to the farm and console him for having to work with us at the unit..............:)
Also, be sure and wish Marie a "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" when you see her as today is her Happy day..........:)

What the.........

I know this is disturbing to look at but it happens and we just have to deal with it as best we can. Randy was not here today and he is the one who usually keeps Jerry moving but as you can see he was NOT, even after repeated kicking by me. I finally called over the neighbors dog and he got his face wet and woke him up....no, he licked it. I new he had been there a long time cause the grass was all brown beneath him, well, I think it was brown because he had been lying on it so long, what else could have made it all brown and dead looking.....oh, maybe the truck was leaking gas........by the by, he got up, shook off the sleepies (my word) loaded up his truck and called it a day, ya gotta love him............:)

It's startin to come together........

The leg is finally in place and all the little workers are going at a hectic pace taking advantage of this great weather to get done as much as they can. Everything appeared to be going well except for a few miss measurements on some of the down pipeing but all in all okee dokee......:)

Wednesday, August 06, 2008

Oh Deerrrrrrrrrrr:)

Marie was so lucky while working at the Cabin she heard an awful growling noise, looked up and a flock of deer were coming at her snarling and yelling at her at which time she ran (waddled) inside, grabbed her trusty phone and shot them both............
I ain't right..............:)

Tuesday, August 05, 2008

More progress........

The crew is moving a little slower than we would like but things are coming along. They are putting the leg together on this side of the bins while Jerry is prepping the ground for a bin pad on the other. Randy got just outside the photo here as I caught him going through the parts piles when I drove in.........

The weather has cooled off so things will move a little faster...........:)

Baby J In The Hay.........

Yep, Mom is supposed to get off work and go lay in the sun with a cool drink and play with Jonathan but this is her task instead. I think they all had fun (especially Baby J ) and did get the hay up before the rain came......
Speaking of rain, we sure could use a little about now and after looking at the radar a few moments ago, it appears some is on the way........:)

Saturday, July 26, 2008

Slow but sure..........

Things are moving along fairly well despite the appearance of little or no change. A lot of work inside the bins and setting leg anchors was done last week and that's not visible in the photos.
It is almost State Fair time so I am sure Steve is getting his "Show Face" on in preparation for a lot of showing and selling...........:)

Nourishing sunrise...........

See the corn reaching up to the Sun......the beans, and yes you guessed it, a "Sunflower" and even me behind the camera......
Everything grows well at Fairholme Farms......
I think I need a hug..........:)

More.....Less........

Well, I am about over the flu or whatever it was Steve, Andy and I had last week, and I gotta tell you, it is no fun being sick in this heat. And speaking of the heat, it is 88 degrees, humidity is 48% with little or no breeze. So who is in the last place anyone would want to be on a day like this, Randy, Josh, Adam and Don. Don was running after the irrigation at the photo shoot (he is a little camera shy after the last one) but you can see Adam's legs under the bin ring to the right. Both bins have to go to make room for a larger one trying to keep up with the ever increasing yields............later..........:)

More.....................

The wind was terrible on Wednesday and I am glad I wasn't the guy on top of the leg guiding the belt out as it was removed, you can see how the wind was whipping it and it is very heavy to say the least. Randy has to help with the loader to get the leg flat on the ground. These shots were taken just outside Ronda's door on the west side of the office. We will compare the view when we see the new.............:)

Thursday and stuff.........

As you can see, old stuff coming down and new stuff soon to be going up but they only just got started and it rained all stinking day so new stuff is waiting........

Yes Thursday was a dreary day inside and out and it didn't make any difference where we were today we were wet!!! We got everything accomplished, as usual, despite Steve's absence, which actually was a pleasure rather than a hindrance, and even managed to get some extras done and squeaked by getting sows in before they, u-know, in the Gestation barn.

Marie and Ronda got a lot of photos of the leg coming down so more will be available soon but nothing is happening now so ain't no new photos so you will have to wait....

I have to go and try to figure out a way to keep this bird from using my jeep as a porta potty so I will be gone.......for now all are home looking for food (except Steve who is out of state) and a soft chair and all is well on the farm once again..........:)

Clouds.......

These are some storm clouds we found moving across the northern part of the county and they were rolling up pretty good when we saw them. If you blow it up you will see a jet airliner passing in front of them.

As a kid, I used to lay under the trees and watch these in awe making all kinds of shapes and wondering what made them so poofy. Now if I am laying under a tree, as in this case, it is because I have fallen out of my lawn chair and rolled down the hill till the tree caught me.........:)

Pikkin and stuff.........

Jonathan and we (my word) had some fun yesterday afternoon picking cherries and a little playing in between, after all, you can't do chores without a little playing although he didn't know it was a chore.....and the farm cherry trees are overberrying with cherries (my word again, I have many) so there is plenty for everyone including the birds.......
I did notice Terry was still side dressing corn, Randy spraying beans, and poor Don running around like Lori at the buffet, trying to keep them both in goods while mowing in between.....hope he had his Wheaties......he tends to avoid me since the photo incident....go figure......:)

Thursday, June 19, 2008

ooooooooooooodogie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I tell you what, we just gotta have the best darn boss dudes a buncha people could have.....just look at what they just did do for us..... a brand new spick-n-span one of a kind just for us no holds (or water ) bard outin the wild blue gettin intouch with mother nature HOT TUB....Kim and Randy went all out on this gift have Jerry do some of his best craft work to date.....their is no end to how much we will enjoy this and it is going to be a great incentive for attracting new employees..........as you can see, I am the only one with cloths on cause I have such delicate skin......
KUDOS guys, it was a dream come true.....
Dustin was under the water at filming.................:)

Back in the Corn.........

As you can see, Terry is back in the corn doing, well, you know, and he is getting along okee dokee if the weather holds.
In case you city people don't have a clue (tee hee) as you can see their is a lot of mud on the tractor wheels and it is just everrwhere in the corn so Terry had to get some industrial cleaner (the big tank of AMONIA) to use on the corn and hopefully that will make it move away from all that mud...........
Any city folk that have any technical questions about the farm feel free to reach out and touch me any time, I can bee reached right here......but I am afraid I was touched earlier.........:)

OOOOOOOOOOOPS..........

"I'm mowing down what"......"Terry said if is green and sticking up to mow it down".......
"Am I bad"...............:)
For you city folk, that is corn all around the mower......

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KIM, SUSAN AND SHIRLEY.......

Yep, the pair are another year older and celebrating with the kids in Chicago. At last report, Susan had blown all her candles out and went off with the boys while Kim, on the other hand, was projecting to have his blown out just in time to get back on the road for home Tuesday, go figure. Also celebrating today is Shirley Sheffler (you know, Lee's better half) so make sure you give them all a "Happy Birthday Spanking" when you see them......
This is a neat photo of a huuuumongiss giant kinda spider having a bee for lunch or dinner don't know a spiders schedule very well but neat none the less......:)

Two "Jons" in the garage.......

Resting after a long day of garage cleaning.......watching for the school bus........gazing at the garage door that is continuously going up and down for no apparent reason but, who cares........or trying to figure out who dressed Jonathan.......
Maybe it is just Grandpa and Grandson hangin out on a lazy kinda day.........

BRING THE HEAT..........

This field has got to be pushing a mile in length and if you look real close at the photo, on the right next to the woods, you will see the planter. Yep, Terry is puttin em in the ground, beans that is, but if we don't get some warmth they ain't gonna grow much. It is just too darn cold for anything to grow, even me, but somehow I have managed, but we need some above 50 degree nights to get things cooking and so far we haven't had it.
Today is Thursday and that means weaning day and it went as well as it could given our sows are all a little under the weather but I did see some signs of improvement as I walked amongst them (that sounds so profound, I like it, I'll have to be amongst more often, but shouldn't it be spelled amonkst..go figure) this morning at chore time. Mostly the day has been pretty smooth and lucky for us rather uneventfull (my word) but finally over. I have a date with the TV so I will take my leave of .....what ever.... and be gone...but most are home and relaxing at the end of the day and all is well on the farm once again........:)

Just Stuff..........

Well, I haven't been here in awhile, been a little under the weather, as opposed to being a little over the weather which would require being in an airplane which ain't gonna happen but speaking of airplanes Lori finally got to take her 5 year anniversary trip and FLEW to see her big brother Tony in Texas, or as she says "Tony T" sounds a little mafia like to me but maybe it is more like Mr. T, he won't fly either.....she did have a great time despite the bumpy flight and her nervous.............I'm done......

As you can see the planter is rolling and rolling rather well I might add. The last rain event didn't produce enough rain to keep it down for long and next week looks like it will cooperate as well. Terry got a little over 50 acres done Friday before the rain stopped him but it was time for a break anyway......

Got to go, I am being rattled......weekend chores are done, sun is shinning, flag is flying and all is well on the farm once again..............

Tulips have begun........

Ok, it looks like something from Star Wars but it's not, it's just a REALLY close shot of a Tulip opening up.......just wait till I find a worm.......:)

After the Quake.....

Ok, this is a photo taken AFTER the earthquake!!! Yep, I said EARTHQUAKE and I'm not kidding! It happened Friday morning a little after 5 and it is one of those things that makes you second guess what you are doing or feeling and say to your self, self....what the heck was that???? Is it storming, thunder, big truck, flock of sows broke loose and are out for revenge, you know, sow stampede.....a low flying aircraft, the bean burritos chili and deviled egg monster you ingested about to rear it's ugly head and make for the exit, or are you just a little ditsy and having more trouble standing this morning than usual, I mean come on, earthquake, Indiana, no way....YES WAY.......but lucky for us it was short lived and caused no damage, at least not around here.

The week ended rather well, including the earthquake, and even Thursday was another smooth day. We have had the sows under control for the past couple of weeks but I am not sure how long that will hold. Randy did stop in yesterday and show me the new rear mounted mowing deck for the new Deere and it looks like a winner. It is about to become the replacement for the 855 which has served the farm for many years and is soon to retire, unless it is swallowed up by and earthquake.......

Well, it is too nice to be in here so out I will go......it is sunny and warm, all are hopefully out playing and all is well on the farm once again........:)

Wednesday, April 16, 2008

Chloe.........

See what Marie and I found in Kim and Susan's yard this afternoon.....she is already giving Heidi a run for her money in the tug the rope contest and I am sure it won't be long before she can out do her as fast as she is growing....:))

Oh, she likes to lick the inside of Mountain Dew bottles too.....

Monday, April 14, 2008

Family Photo....

OK Debbie, I'll bet I got this photo before you did, well, maybe not but just in case I did here it is for you and all to see!!!

If my hearing is ok....what....then I heard right and this is a photo for the church registry or a mug shot for the "all you can eat" restaurants as families NOT to serve.....

If memory serves me correctly (ya'll can chime in too if you want) but when Eric left here he had a whole lot more hair than we see here......

Maybe Jonathan has "inHAIRited" it......sometimes I just crack me up.......:)))

More "Buzz".........

Just another Bee photo and the farm is covered with them. Marie says they are attracted to the farm cause we all are so sweet.....but then again, she also said the little yellow nodules on the legs were winter bootys they haven't completely shed ed yet.....yep, I stood right there and said "I do".....go figure..........:)

The "Buzzzzzz"..............

Well, these little guys think Spring is here, as do a few flowers, and finally the temps are heading in the right direction, 50s today, 60s tomorrow although I still had frost on the deck this morning the sun came out and warmed things up rather nicely.
The week went rather well ending on a wet and dreary Friday (for some) but end it did and no employees were harmed in the ending of the week, all just went home weary and wet (sounds like a beaver and the whole damm thing) but fit to work another day.
Thursday went off without a hitch again and that is begining to bother me. I have a feeling our luck is running out so to speak, too many good days in a row usually spells trouble at some point. We had 9 mommies waiting at the door and they all held their, well you know, untill we were ready for them and that is just too good to last but we will take it if we can get it.......
It is Saturday afternoon and the sun is shining big time, the air is rather warm, all are out playing or trying to and all is well on the farm once again.........

Sunday, March 30, 2008

No Harm Just "Fowl".........

As I took a gander, (get it, gander, goose, male goosee) around the east end of the buildings, I noticed these two parked across from the P-Pond soaking up the bright sunshine and obviously scoping out a spot to nest and believe me there are plenty to choose from. I believe the one sitting is the female (imagine that, like it took hours of study to figure that out) and the male is keeping an eye on me in case I am a threat or maybe just the sun reflecting off of my head startled him and made him jump up, go figure. They really are great to watch and I have a lot in common with them as we pick a mate and we are together for life, big poofy tail, and oh, I like eggs too, and given the number of gooseez I see daily, there is going to be a lot of little gooseez (goslings to you non-goosee people) around the P-Pond this year so don't hesitate to take a "gander" at them a little later on in the spring.....

Well, the week ended on a positive note with another very well executed Thursday weaning, washing, moving and fixing, and no mommies doing well, you know, in the Gestation barn. Lucky for us they all were longers (long gestation lengths) so they made it till their suites were ready and all settled in before they, you know, all over the place.

4-H pigs are still going outa here like flys to a candy apple and I can't wait to see the fair results this year, going to be interesting to say the least!!!

Well, it is time for some B&B (bananas and burritos, talk about a magnesium burn) so I will take my leave of ya'll.....for now the weather is crappy, freeze to thunderstorms, but all are home and tucked in for the day and all is well on the farm once again.....:)

Saturday, March 22, 2008

Spring what,when,now.......

I can almost smell the phlox in the photo and according to the calendar Spring started Thursday morning but according to the weatherman it is still winter with snow forecast for Saturday and Easter Sunday, go figure.
Thursday was not only the first day of Spring but also another weaning day so we "Sprang" into action and moved all the little piggies into their new homes and got the old one washed and freshened up for the new pigs in town and all went extremely well for a Thursday even though we were sweating bullets (more like milk duds, we had been into the chocolate) over the sows even having Dustin doing a routine run to gestation to make sure there were no sows doing, well you know, in the barn, we got all moved into their nice clean rooms and all caught up for another few days!!!!
GOOD FRIDAY turned out to be a rather pleasant day work wise, with Andy, Lori and I taking care of things and the Gremlins failed to rear their ugly little heads and kick us in the, well you know, like last year so it was a two day in a row good deal kinda thing and we can only hope it is a trend or something like that or a sign of things to be or just a coincidence kinda thing but it was very welcome in case I didn't make that plain enough or clear or something like that......
This is another year that I will dawn my Easter long johns and Bunny snow boots instead of an Easter bonnet (I really could use one, cause I bent down in some tall grass last year to tie my shoe and one of the kids thought they had found the worlds biggest Easter egg (with ears) or something) I can't win, but despite the weather everyone will have a most excellent Easter Sunday with family.........
It is getting late in the day and all my little critter friends are snoozing away comfortably with their little tummy's full, everyone is home preparing for Sunday and all is well on the farm once again............:)

Saturday, March 15, 2008

Sunset on the Farm.......

Thursday was another very well planned day (all thanks to Lori and I if we must say so and we must) and despite the odds being against us we came out victorious (as usual) once again!!! We have been using a 4 cart system at weaning which makes things go a lot faster and I mean fast, I swear I saw my own butt more than once and I know some of you say that is easy to do from a mile away but no kidding aside I passed myself coming and going in the same alley, Lori just went at a dead run with a syringe in one hand and a cart in the other and break time was when we got the washers going......
As you can see, Friday ended on a rather gorgeous note with fair Skye's and moderately nice temperatures giving way to today with cooler temps and drizzle all day it turned out rather gloomy. Did have to help Lori this morning with a task that was most definitely better accomplished with two sets of hands (it was one of those we hate to do and thank goodness we don't do very often) than one and had little problems gettin it done.
Well, I have a movie and some popcorn awaiting me so I will take my leave (I love that)....but for now, a lot of 4-h pigs have been sold, everyone is home and tucked in for the day and all is well on the farm once again..........:)

Things You Find In The Snow.....

No, it isn't a beaver, it is Baby J finding out what depth perception is all about (not really, that is the last thing on his mind) and applying the results of his findings in a real time environmental situation (having a blast in English)........:)

Sunday, March 09, 2008

Sunset.......

This is a neat photo of almost sunset Saturday after the snow had ended and the wind subsided a little bit. Just missed Randy moving snow down road and luckily it didn't get as bad as they predicted. NOW, it is 6 degrees but no wind, and looks at this point in time like it may be a great day, weather wise that is.....:)

Thursday, March 06, 2008

It's Later.......

Well, I don't much like this weather but what can you do.....and here I thought spring was just around the corner yesterday when I saw Randy outside with his hood down.....

unbelievable, he never takes it down....I thought for the longest time that he was studying to be a "Boooist", you know, one of those guys that wears the long thingies with the hood up all the time that tap you on the shoulder when you don't know they are there and when you turn they go "Booo", a Boooist.....

Well, Thursday is over and it ended very well for a Thursday. All the sows that were due were not exactly due for immediate accommodations so we had a little breathing room for a change. Spent most of the last three days repairing water lines and feed systems but those are coming along okee dokee so far....got the piggies weaned in record time again and no employees were harmed in the making of the record.......got the room washed and all the mommies moved in and awaiting, well you know, and the day ended as smoothly as it began so all that's left to do is await the snow storm.

It is getting dark and cold but all are home and tucked in for the day, and all is well on the farm once again.........:)

ICEEEEEEEEEEEE........HAWK.......

This is really neeeeeeet.......in the bottom picture you can see him top left in the tree and the next one is zooooooooomed in. There was another one in the tree in the garden also and I am sure dinner was as scarce as sun and warmth. There is hundreds of trees broke down from the ice, a real mess, and now we have another winter storm watch in effect for the weekend with a lot of snow but worst of all wind which is going to be bad for the trees cause the ice has not melted off and they are still very heavy so wind is the last thing they need..........later...........

Mom & Baby J......

Just got this (Debbie) and had to share. I think he is almost ready to take on chores with Dad, he is already "whoopin Mom" pretty good....

Grow Baby J...........

Just Yappin........

Yes it is still winter but this photo just makes my old heart go pooter pat (as you get older you will understand this) to see all the warmth and sunshine in this photo and it is just around the corner, or so they tell me. This weather going from 50 one day to zero the next is taking it's toll on everyone and everything. I went to the office to return Kim's phone last week, (that's right Susan, he lost it at the unit) and there was Randy wearing two sweatshirts with a heat tape raped around him plugged into the wall and he was still cold, "bring the heat"!!!!!
The week ended rather well as far as well can end and well can end well when things go rather well for you, oh well. Thursday was a breathable day and the 9 sows waiting to, well you know, gave me a break by all having rather long gestation lengths (for you city folk that means their gestation is longer than normal) so I didn't start the day till 4 that morning. We were without an employee once again, the power washer melted some wires and slowed us down a wee bit, but we had some things done far enough ahead that it all ended rather well, as I think I have already mentioned, and Thursday ended on a upbeat rather than us being beat up.......
Today is rather sunny and in the 40's for a change and tomorrow is forecast to be even more sunny and more warmer and then rain (HEAVY) just before it turns to snow and an Arctic front moves in with some more much below normal temps for us to enjoy at the end of the week, same ole same ole......
But for now all are home or out enjoying the sun and all is well on the farm once again......:)

Thursday, February 21, 2008

Thursday.........DONE......

If you read the early report you know we were swetting again to get sows in but I am here to tell you we are all resting easy tonight cause the day is over and for a Thursday it turned out rather spectacular as far as we are concerned!!!!! Only a few bumps or thumps, call them what you will, in the feed mill and with some frozen bearings on a few bins, did I forget to mention it is frigid and damp to boot which makes for some stuff sticking like it ordinarally would not do so we haves to unstick them....
I did have to make room for a sow about mid morning. As I walked by I happened to notice she was staring up at me while all her neighbors were sleeping so I stopped to say "hey" and she said "oink, oink I'm dripping milk here" and I said "oh oink" and led her off to a sweet (yes, as candy)with her name on it so to speak and left her there to milk as she saw fit, and she saw fit.......
The day did turn out very well with that being the closest call as far as the sows were concerned and tonight we are all cozy and calm watching it snow and all IS well on the farm once again....:)
